Background
Surfvival surf & windsurf school and shop based in Karpathos, Greece. The business offers various activities including windsurf and surf lessons, bike rent, climbing expeditions, but also runs a shop and coffee stand. Because of the established competition offering the same activities, Surfvival contacted us with the idea to outrank their competitors in the local organic and 3-pack rankings. Our job was to do a simultaneous optimization of their website and Google Business Profile for the main keywords with the aim to outrank their competitors and enhance traffic from Google.
Main keywords
Before we started with the Google Business Profile and website optimisation process we researched the different variations of local keywords that match with the clients services and products from their shop. We compared their search volumes and grouped them into primary and secondary keywords. We have also conducted a competitor analysis to check their strengths and weaknesses. After that we met with the client to better understand their business strategy, margins and commissions to create a priority list for the optimization process. We decided to rank their homepage for the primary keywords (Surf school Karpathos) and to rank separate inner pages for secondary keywords (windsurf school, windsurf rental, bike rent Karpathos etc.).
We agreed to target 7 main keywords with both, the clients GBP and their website. The goal was to reach the #1 spot in the local 3 pack and to rank among the top 3 results in the local organic rankings.
